Hey there, freestyle freaks! Prepare to be transported back in time as we take you on a thrilling journey to the 90s freestyle music scene. On September 24th, 2023, the Amadeus Night Club in Queens, New York, hosted an unforgettable sold-out event that catered to the nostalgia of that era. Curated by the legendary DJ Lucho,Willis Ave Productions and DJ John Gungie Rivera, and hosted by none other than Crazy Legs from Rocksteady Crew, this night was all about reliving the magic of freestyle.

A Powerful Lineup: A Blast from the Past

Picture this: the dance floor packed with passionate fans, the beats pumping through the speakers, and the stage set for an evening of pure freestyle bliss. The lineup for the night included some of the most iconic names from the 90s freestyle scene, who took to the stage at Roseland and captivated audiences with their melodic tunes and infectious energy.

The event kicked off with a bang as The Rios Sisters opened the show, setting the perfect tone for the rest of the night. Maribel, Alisha, Jeanette DeJesus, FFWD “Louie Legit,” Strafe, and Tony Moran followed suit, delivering powerhouse performances that reminded everyone why freestyle music was so beloved during that decade.

But that’s not all! The audience was treated to a few surprises as well. Safire and George Lamond, veterans of the Roseland stage, made special guest appearances that had the crowd on their feet. Their presence added an extra layer of excitement and nostalgia to an already unforgettable night.

Safire and Fascination: A Duet to Remember

One of the standout moments of the event was when Safire took the stage alongside the talented Elsie, also known as Fascination. Together, they belted out the classic tune “Boy, I’ve Been Told,” captivating the audience with their powerful vocals and undeniable chemistry. It was a duet that will be etched in the memories of all those lucky enough to witness it.

DJ Lucho: Bringing Back the 90s Vibe

DJ Lucho and Willis Ave Productions, the masterminds behind this incredible event, worked tirelessly to create an experience that transported ticket buyers back to the vibrant 90s freestyle scene. By partnering with freestyle icons, DJ Lucho ensured that attendees felt like they were reliving the glory days of the genre. And guess what? Club 1018 and Roseland reunions are in the history books. This is just the beginning! Keep an eye out for DJ Lucho’s future theme nights, who knows maybe  other iconic 90s nightclubs such as Studio 54, Roxy or Palladium.

A Touch of History: Roseland Ballroom

Now, let’s take a trip down memory lane. In 1996, plans were filed to tear down the beloved Roseland Ballroom, which hosted countless memorable performances over the years. However, before bidding farewell, the venue went out with a bang. In 2014, Lady Gaga headlined seven shows, marking the final performances at Roseland Ballroom. The vibes were electric, and “G.U.Y.” became the last song to reverberate through the iconic space.
